The emergency session of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina was not held due to lack of quorum. After another interruption of the session, delegate Zlatko Miletić said that all political actors are co-responsible for the months-long blockade of work and that citizens can rightly be outraged.
Miletić reminded that he was one of the co-signatories of the initiative to hold the session, without the intention of influencing the agenda, but with the aim of finally starting the work of the House of Peoples.
“What was my intention in all this is to really finally start working and to try to bring at least those, conditionally speaking, laws that are the simplest, given the fact that from February 18 last year, that is, 2025, until today – a year – we have not moved from the deadlock. And we are all co-responsible and we should all be ashamed. We keep the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, if you will, all peoples, in a certain way in agony by not doing their job,” Miletić said.
BHRT warning
He also referred to the issue of BHRT, reminding that at the previous session he asked for consideration of information on the state of the public service.
“If BHRT stops, people here are not aware that everything will stop, given the power and strength of the repeater in Bosnia and Herzegovina, not to mention some others, from security and some other agencies,” Miletić warned.
He added that if domestic institutions do not find a solution, the possibility of turning to the Office of the High Representative could be considered.
“If he could have made a decision to allocate 120 million to criminals in the Viaduct, I don't know why he wouldn't have found a legal basis to at least temporarily help the Radio Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina until this issue is systematically resolved,” Miletić pointed out.
On Tegeltija: “Very inappropriate”
Commenting on the appointment of Milan Tegeltija for BH. consul in Rijeka, Miletić was harsh.
“To put it mildly, I think it is very inappropriate, inappropriate, not to say a more difficult expression. That gentleman does not deserve it with his personal qualities,” he said.
He added that any form of support for manifestations with, as he stated, a “fascist or neo-Nazi sign”, as well as support for the Chetnik Ravna Gora movement, Islamic fundamentalism or other negative phenomena, has no place in the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“They have no place in any institution,” Miletić said.
Platform for Peace “Long Dead”
When asked about the Platform for Peace, Miletić assessed that it no longer exists in the political sense.
“In my personal opinion, she is long dead. People have neither the political strength nor the political power to move things forward,” he said.
He also recalled the period after the 2022 elections, stating that at that time he believed that the opposition parties from Republika Srpska would be a better partner in government than the SNSD.
“I think that the situation would have been much different in Bosnia and Herzegovina if they had been in power than the SNSD. However, people really don't want to listen,” Miletić concluded.
